Development of ASB Dredging Programs

Learn MoreCompanies managing aerated stabilization basins (ASBs) can be challenged by the accumulation of sediments within the basin. Such accumulation can reduce the residence time of water begin treated in the basin, alter the intended flow pattern of the wastewater within the basin, and result in feedback from degrading biomass that manifests in elevated concentrations of nutrients in final effluents. Periodic removal of these sediments via dredging is a common, albeit expensive, remedy. NCASI has expertise and tools that can assist mills in developing and executing dredging programs and, importantly, help identify opportunities for achieving desired outcomes in the most cost-effective way possible.
