Habplan

Habplan is a program developed by NCASI staff to assist forest managers with spatially explicit harvest scheduling and landscape management. Written in Java, Habplan uses a simulation approach based on the Metropolis Algorithm to generate feasible (near-optimal) harvest schedules. Users can run Habplan directly in Java or through R or RStudio using the HabplanR package. The member-only version provides NCASI members exclusive access to unlimited stand numbers during Habplan runs, options for multi-objective optimization using linear programming, and the ability to include carbon components in forestry problems.
