NCASI Review of Recent Publications on Environmental Effects of Glyphosate
NCASI summarizes and reviews three recent publications focused on glyphosate that be of interest to forest managers.
Learn MoreUsing herbicides for forest vegetation management is an important tool on private, working forests. Various other silvicultural chemicals (insecticides, fertilizers) are also important management tools. However, timber managers who wish to include silvicultural chemical use as a component of their management plans are increasingly faced with questions, concerns, and opposition from members of the public and regulatory agencies – in part because of fears about the perceived adverse effects of herbicide use on fish and wildlife.
Staff monitor and review relevant scientific literature relative to silvicultural chemicals, and activities of state and federal regulatory agencies and various forest certification organizations are followed and commented on, as appropriate. Staff also respond to specific questions from Member Companies about silvicultural chemicals.
