Background

Dr. Sushil Nepal joined NCASI in March 2025 as a Senior Research Scientist for Spatial Statistics and Remote Sensing in the Western Sustainability Program. Prior to joining NCASI, he worked as a Forest Carbon Modeling Manager with ANEW CLIMATE and as a Remote Sensing Scientist and Biometrician at Alpine Land Information Services. He holds a Ph.D. in Biometrics/Remote Sensing from the University of British Columbia (UBC). His research interests focus on the application of spatial statistics to characterize spatial patterns of individual trees, stands, and landscapes. He is interested in comparing the forest structure at multiple spatial and temporal scales utilizing various sources of data such as historical inventory, LiDAR data, and satellite images.

  • Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics, Northern Arizona University
  • Master’s in Planting Breeding and Genetics, Tribhuvan University
