Background

Dr. Hector Restrepo is a forest biometrician, statistician, data scientist, and finance specialist with 20+ years of work experience in the forest industry and academia, conducting and leading research and extension projects. He specializes in southern yellow pine species and tropical forestry of tree species planted in Latin America, such as teak, melina, eucalypts, and pines.

Hector joined NCASI in December of 2023, performing forest carbon estimation and modeling as well as analyzing the implications of policies, regulations, and GHG inventory protocols on timberland investment companies. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), the International Society of Forest Resource Economics (ISFRE), the International Society of Tropical Foresters (ISTF), and the American Statistical Association (ASA).
