Water Stewardship, Sustainability & Integrity of Receiving Waters

The more recent advent of stewardship/sustainability initiatives for water have made apparent some additional opportunities for highlighting industry practices. NCASI work in these areas has included the development of tools for estimating mill-level water consumption and evaluating the applicability of numerous water stewardship metrics used to define water footprints for industrial facilities. Elements of NCASI’s Aquatic Biology Program also contribute to improved understanding of water stewardship by investigating means by which the use and discharge of water resources can be accomplished without diminishing the quality of aquatic communities that also depend on these resources.
