Technical Bulletin No. 0889: The Effects of a Bleached Kraft Mill Effluent on Periphyton and Macroinvertebrates in a Streamside Mesocosm Study – Leaf River, Mississippi

A streamside mesocosm study was conducted to evaluate the potential effects of a bleached kraft mill effluent on periphyton and macroinvertebrates in the Leaf River, Mississippi. Effluent concentrations of 0, 1, 3, and 8% v/v effluent were tested in circular mesocosm tanks receiving water from the Leaf River. These concentrations contrast to mean concentrations at the edge of the effluent mixing zone of 0.
