Technical Bulletin No. 0875: Nationwide Evaluation of Mercury and Chlorine Levels in Bark and Stemwood

A four-week bark and stemwood sampling program was carried out at 30 pulp and paper and wood products manufacturing facilities across the country. Samples were collected by facility personnel using ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) guidance and then shipped to NCASI. NCASI staff processed the samples and shipped them to an analytical laboratory for determination of their mercury, chlorine, and heat content.
