Technical Bulletin No. 0786: Stand-Alone Biological Treatment of Kraft Mill Condensates — Pilot Plant Studies
The MACT I component of the 1997 Cluster Rule may create situations under which it is desirable for a kraft mill to treat condensates in a stand-alone process. Depending on the application, the effluent from such a process may be reused within the mill or sewered, if it is treated to MACT I requirements. In order to evaluate the feasibility of implementing condensate biotreatment at a particular facility, information is needed to (a) serve as the basis for a preliminary cost estimate to establish the economic feasibility and (b) characterize the emissions (liquid, air, and sludge) from the process to determine if the process is compatible with mill operations.
