Technical Bulletin No. 0777: Guidance on the Site-Specific Evaluation of Bioaccumulation Factors under the Great Lakes Water Quality Initiative
This report presents information on the scientific understanding of bioaccumulation, the protocols used by USEPA to develop systemwide bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) under the Great Lakes Initiative (GLI), and the procedures that are permissible under the GLI for the site-specific evaluation of BAFs. Each of the options for site-specific BAF modification is reviewed in terms of its requirements and merits. Guidelines and recommendations are given on the design and execution of studies to achieve site-specific modification of systemwide BAFs.
