Technical Bulletin No. 0773: Volatile Organic Compound Emissions from Wood Products Manufacturing Facilities, Part VI – Hardboard and Fiberboard

An impinger/canister method and EPA Method 25A were used to measure volatile organic hazardous air pollutant (HAP) and total volatile organic (VOC) emissions from one fiberboard, one fiberboard and hardboard, and two hardboard mills. Additionally, liquid samples of whitewater and scrubber fluids were analyzed by several different methods for volatile and semi-volatile compounds. A “wet/wet,” “wet/dry,” and, “dry/dry” forming/drying hardboard mill were tested.
