Technical Bulletin No. 0760: Carbon Monoxide Emissions from Oxygen Delignification and Chlorine Dioxide Bleaching of Wood Pulp
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a byproduct of delignifying pulp with oxygen and bleaching pulp with chlorine dioxide. A study was conducted to investigate CO emissions from oxygen delignification systems and bleach plants using chlorine dioxide. Field testing using continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMs) was carried out to measure CO emissions from vents on four oxygen delignification systems and six bleach plants, all located in the northwestern United States.
