Technical Bulletin No. 0729: Recovery of Enhanced Rain-on-Snow Melt Caused by Harvesting: A Review of the Scientific Literature
This review synthesizes information about rain-on-snow (ROS) melt and recovery processes as they occur in the Pacific Northwest. The purpose of the review is to identify mathematical relationships useful in formulation of a simulation model which predicts how ROS melt rates change as revegetation progresses following harvest. Previous studies of ROS melt, based on the analysis of mass and energy balances, indicate the greater relative importance of sensible and latent heat exchange, radiation, and interception processes.
