Technical Bulletin No. 0687: Alternatives for Management of Pulp and Paper Industry Solid Wastes: Production of LIghtweight Aggregate

This report provides technical information concerning the manufacture of lightweight aggregate using paper mill wastewater treatment plant sludge and boiler ash. Information concerning the size and dynamics of the United States markets for lightweight aggregate is also presented. Technical details of the lightweight aggregate production processes were provided by two companies, one of which is actively engaged in manufacturing lightweight aggregate from paper mill sludge.
