Technical Bulletin No. 0644: The Significance of Paper in Municipal Solid Waste Composting

An option for beneficial use of non-recyclable paper in municipal solid waste is composting. This report contains information on the effects, if any, of discarded paper and paperboard product on the chemical quality and physical properties of MSW compost. The report confirms that municipal solid waste can be converted to dark brown granular-textured compost, without visual evidence of paper structure and free of objectionable odors.
