Technical Bulletin No. 0622: A Study of Formaldehyde Emissions from Wood Residue-Fired Boilers

The potential for emission of formaldehyde from wood residue-fired boilers operated by the forest products industry was investigated. Boilers selected for sampling were representative of current design and operating practices. Since there is no EPA reference, or generally recognized, method for measurement of formaldehyde in combustion gases, samples were collected using three sampling trains operated concurrently, one of which was spiked with a preselected weight of formaldehyde.
