Technical Bulletin No. 0611: Observation on the Bioaccumulation of 2,3,7,8-TCDF in Channel Catfish and Largemouth Bass and their Survival or Growth During Exposure to BiologicallyT

This report describes studies designed to determine BAFs for 2,3,7,8-TCDD/F in experimental streams where known concentrations of these compounds were present in water, food and sediments. Channel catfish were exposed as free-living fish in 3 streams and in cages in 2 of the streams that received effluent at 4% or 8% v/v largemouth bass were exposed in 3 streams. Fish exposed up to 205 days in the streams were sampled at predetermined intervals and analyzed for 2,3,7,8-TCDD/F. After 205 days of exposure fish were placed in well water for 120 days to determine depuration rates.
