Technical Bulletin No. 0609: In-Plant and Closed Cycle Technologies R&D Program – First Year Research Reports – Add-On Control Technologies

Eight research proposals were funded during the first year of the Section 301(m)-mandated in-plant and closed cycle technologies R&D program. These projects are: (1) Extended Pulping and Pulp Washing, (2) Photo-enhanced Oxygen Delignification, (3) Development of a New Bleaching Technique, (4) Impact of Close-Up on Optimum Kraft Mill Operation, (5) The Feasibility of Thermal Destruction of Chlorine-Containing Concentrated Streams from Closed Cycle Processes, (6) Biological Treatment Technologies for Removing Chlorinated Organics and Color from Bleach Plant Effluents: Engineering Aspects - Process Development and Evaluation, (7) Destruction of Color and Chlorinated Organics from Bleach Plant Effluents, and (8) Reduction of TOC1, Color, Organic Load, and Toxicity in Pulpmill Streams by Enhanced Photooxidation.
