Technical Bulletin No. 0582: Field Verification of the NCASI Predictive Model for Organic Compound Removal by Biological Wastewater Treatment Processes

This bulletin presents the results of a field study conducted to examine the accuracy of the NCASI organic compound removal model (NOCEPM). In addition to evaluating the model based on overall treatment efficiency, special emphasis is placed on determining the dominant removal pathway (stripping, sorption or biodegradation) for a group of compounds believed to be removed primarily by only one pathway. Off-gas chloroform concentration is measured directly through use of a sampling hood allowing for estimation of the total chloroform emission rate from the aeration basin.
