Technical Bulletin No. 0579: Laboratory and Field Evaluation of a Portable Continuous Analyzer for Measurement of Formaldehyde in Workplace Atmospheres

Laboratory and field evaluations were conducted to examine the performance of a direct-reading instrument which has recently become available commercially for measurement of formaldehyde in workplace atmospheres. The instrument was an Interscan Model 1160SP Portable Formaldehyde Analyzer. Tests included: (a) zero and calibration drift; (b) response times; (c) accuracy and repeatability in measuring known challenges of formaldehyde in air; and (d) the effect of relative humidity, analyte concentration and potential interferents on the instrument response.
