Technical Bulletin No. 0562: Mountain Goat – Forest Management Relationships: A Review

We reviewed literature to evaluate relationships between forest management and mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) populations, and assessed the potential for integrating forestry and goat management. Mountain goats use forests primarily in coastal regions, particularly during winter. Wintering goats select certain slope steepness, aspect, elevations, distance to cliffs, and timber volume within mature and old-growth forest types.
