Technical Bulletin No. 0532: Uptake and Release of Inorganic and Organic Ions by Foliage: Evaluation of Dry Deposition, Pollutant Damage, and Forest Health with Throughfall Studies
When rain comes in contact with the leaves and branches of a forest canopy, the chemistry of the rain changes. Solutes pass from rain into plant tissues and vice-versa. In addition, particles deposited onto the canopy prior to the rainfall event may be dissolved or physically displaced.
