Technical Bulletin No. 0524: Dioxin: A Critical Review of Its Distribution, Mechanism of Action, Impacts on Human Health, and the Setting of Acceptable Exposure Limits
Dioxin had been an important issue in environmental and occupational health for almost two decades. While earlier measurements showed it not to be present in waste treatment sludges from the pulp and paper industry, more sensitive measurements used during the National Dioxin Study showed it to be present at low levels in some sludges. In response to these findings the pulp and paper industry organized a comprehensive program. One objective of the program is to make available an array of background materials and information on dioxin as it may be related to the pulp and paper industry.
