Because of the complaints of fish off-flavor, individual dischargers may be asked to provide information of the possible contribution of their effluent. This may require the design and conduct of studies to address a specific situation. The bulletin contents go into considerable detail on selection of the appropriate species for testing, the numbers of fish required, acceptable methods of exposure to the effluent and the equipment required.
