Technical Bulletin No. 0509: Ecology of the Spotted Owl in Oregon and Washington

This technical bulletin is a synthesis of an extensive literature review that evaluates the theoretical and empirical, or observational, basis for management of spotted owls. Habitat selection data have been used to infer preferences, which were used in habitat planning. It was shown that habitat selection data may not necessarily equate directly with habitat preferences or habitat requirements of wildlife species in general.
