Technical Bulletin No. 0465: Summary of West Coast Experience with Emissions From Wood-Residue Fired Boilers while Burning Tire Derived Fuel as a Supplemental Fuel
There was an increasing use of shreaded tires as a fuel in combination fuel-fired boilers in the forest products industry. Reference to trials and full scale use of this alternate fuel source was reported in NCASI Special Report No. 82-05 and the NCASI Bulletin Board, Volume 10, No.3. This technical bulletin was assembled from three papers presented at the 1985 West Coast Regional Meeting. The first covers the composition of tires and provides information on bottom ash and fly ash analysis for components of environmental concern such as zinc when burning tires. Fly ash size distribution information is also presented.
