Technical Bulletin No. 0463: A Study of Uncertainty Analysis Techniques and Their Application to the Mathematical Water Quality Model SNSIME

This technical bulletin deals with incorporating and using uncertainty analysis techniques in the modeling procedure. These analyses are necessary to describe the range of predicted water quality which will result from using inputs of varying precision. Although not new, uncertainty analysis procedures are emerging tools to handle the uncertainties arising in the environmental modeling process. The procedures can provide not only the model prediction, but the distribution and the confidence limits surrounding the model prediction under estimated uncertainty conditions in the environmental system.
