Technical Bulletin No. 0439: The Land Application and Related Utilization of Pulp and Paper Mill Sludges

This technical bulletin was prepared in response to the interest in land applying pulp and paper industry residuals. It was based on information in the literature as well as contacts with pulp and paper industry personnel, consultants, scientists, and regulatory officials. As a result of this information gathering effort, approximately 75 mills were identified with exploratory or full-scale programs in the land application of sludge and in the related processing/marketing route for the utilization of sludge.
