Technical Bulletin No. 0429: A Laboratory Study of the Effects of Sediments of Two Different Size Characteristics on Survival of Rainbow Trout Embryos to Fry Emergence

This technical bulletin describes the findings of a laboratory study on the effects of selected size fine sediments on survival of rainbow trout embryos to fry emergence. The study carried out at the National Council's Northern Experimental Streams study site, indicated some relationships between survival rate and the presence of increasing amounts of fine sediment. The presence of fine sediment survival was observed to be beneficial as well as detrimental depending on the size of the sediment.
