Technical Bulletin No. 0419: Observations Of The Condition Of Organs And Tissues Of Fish Exposed To Biologically Treated Bleached Kraft Mill Effluent
The experimental conditions in the program involved exposure of important warm and cold water species such as trout, bass and bluegills for approximately one year in experimental streams where they were subjected to the direct effect of exposure to effluent, as well as indirect effects, since they depended on the in-stream produced food as the only resource. In supporting studies related to spawning success, other species had been exposed to effluent through several life cycles. As an adjunct, the presence of important species of game fish in the final stages of aerated stabilization basin treatment systems was not uncommon and some of these served as test specimens.
