Technical Bulletin No. 0418: The Relationship Between Fine Sediment And Macroinvertebrate Community Characteristics – A Literature Review And Results From NCASI Fine Sediment Studi
The National Council's experimental streams program was initially conceived as a means to study the relationships of the presence of kraft pulp mill effluents and a wide spectrum of aquatic productivity in a natural setting. It has also provided an opportunity to explore other facets of interest to the forest products industry, namely the effect of fine sediments, such as those attributed to forestry management practices, on salmonid spawning success and macro invertebrate production. The experimental work described includes (a) analysis of the sediment and (b) macroinvertebrates inhabiting the experimental streams.
