Technical Bulletin No. 0398: Electrical Earth Resistivity Measurement as an Investigative Tool at Industry Waste Disposal Facilities

The concept of electrical resistivity is based on the conduction of an electrical current through the earth. Using this method, regions of the subsurface have low resistivity due, for instance, to elevated concentrations of ionic species in groundwater, can often be located. The two case histories presented in this bulletin illustrate typical applications of the method at forest products industry solid waste disposal sites.
