Technical Bulletin No. 0367: A Study of the Selection, Calibration and Verification of Mathematical Water Quality Models

To provide a better understanding of the utility and limitations of mathematical water quality modeling, the National Council undertook a major field data acquisition program for use in subsequent, computational and problem analysis scenarios. The database for this study was developed over an 18 month period using a 100 mile reach of the Ouachita River basin in Arkansas and Louisiana. While the field data were generated in the Ouachita River basin, the study was not designed to provide a model of the Ouachita River, but to serve as a resource data generation base for ultimate use in examining procedures incorporated in model selection, calibration and verification.
