Technical Bulletin No. 0360: A Review of Sludge Burning Practices in Combination Fuel-Fired Boilers

This technical bulletin was a response to an increasing number of questions posed the staff by member companies searching for alternative disposal methods for sludges higher in moisture and ash content, than many now burned in conjunction with wood. The bulletin contents describe in detail the characteristics of sludges then being burned in combination fuel-fired boilers. The ratio of sludge to wood solids, ash, and moisture in the feed mixtures found in practice are also presented.
