Technical Bulletin No. 0351: The Effect of Temperature on Sediment Oxygen Demand as Related to Water Quality Modeling

This bulletin presents the effect of temperature on sediment oxygen demand. Specifically, the historical basis for adjusting SOD rates for different temperatures is reviewed. The results of laboratory experiments designed to determine the temperature correction coefficients for SOD were then tested for significance within the context of a water quality study in order to examine the impact of small changes in the thermal coefficient on the oxygen budget of a stream.
