Technical Bulletin No. 0318: A Laboratory Investigation of the Potential for Applying V-Presses to the Dewatering of Sludges with Diminished Fiber Content and Increased Biological
More restrictive sludge disposal requirements have contributed to the pulp and paper industry's interest in attaining sludge cakes with higher solids content. This objective frequently occurs where the sludge has increasingly less amounts of fiber and greater amounts of biological sludge, both of which retard de-waterability. One alternative available is secondary pressing of sludge cake, a method now used in several mills, most of which produce kraft pulp.
