Technical Bulletin No. 0290: Effects of Unbleached Kraft Mill Effluents on Growth and Production of Fish in Experimental Stream Channels
The study methodology employed during the course of the work provided a unique opportunity in providing for the first time an assessment of the effect of an effluent on a representative total aquatic community where conditions very close to those existing in nature could be maintained, and accessibility for timely sampling and study were continually possible. During the course of the study, unbleached kraft effluent which had received primary treatment was used initially. As the study progressed, biologically treated effluent was added to the streams at concentrations which might be found in a coldwater fishing stream.
