Technical Bulletin No. 0271: A Preliminary Investigation of Radiation-Enhanced Oxidation of Pulp Mill Effluents for Color Reduction

  The attached technical bulletin summarizes the results of the National Council's second venture into the study of technical feasibility of applying radiation to mill effluents to favorably alter their characteristics. The first such study in 1956 concerned itself with the effect of radiation on the oxidizable organic content of pulping process-derived effluents and found no significant effects at realistic radiation dosages.
