Technical Bulletin No. 0245: A Study of Mixing Characteristics of Aerated Stabilization Basins

The attached technical bulletin summarizes the results of an extensive NCASI staff study of the mixing characteristics of aerated stabilization basins in terms of overall mixing behavior and the mixing regime established around individual aerators. The results obtained fill a long-felt gap in the tools available for rational engineering process design of such treatment systems, with specific reference to selection of aerator size, type and placement pattern, and basin geometry.
