Technical Bulletin No. 0202: 1966 Review of the Literature on Pulp and Paper Wastes

The attached National Council Technical Bulletin No. 202 is the annual review of the literature for 1966 on water pollution and waste treatment involving pulp and paper manufacture. Knowlton (37) presented a historical review of the National Council for Stream Improvement's program, noted the growth in annual paper industry expenditures for pollution abatement, and reviewed current status of national and regional water resources development planning. Adams (1) noted the magnitude of such expenditures, lauded the industry's organized efforts to resolve pollution problems, and called for expanded research efforts. Stream protection measures at new representative mills were estimated to account for 3 percent of total project capital costs.
