Technical Bulletin No. 0192: Papers Presented at the 1966 Annual Meeting of Members of the National Council for Stream Improvement, Inc.
Air pollution control efforts in the kraft industry have been intensified in the last ten years but the changes brought about by these efforts may be minor as compared to the changes which we anticipate during the nest, five years. We foresee: improvements in design to reduce gaseous and particulate losses at the possible cost, of more complexity of operation; selection of operating techniques which may not be optimum from a process standpoint, but which reduce emissions; and an increase in sources and ambient monitoring programs. We would like to review briefly the reasons for the surge of pressure on mills to clean up, and the present emission data which has formed a basis for the changes which we propose.
