Technical Bulletin No. 0112: Final Report on Aerator Development Studies

The attached Technical Bulletin is a final report on research directed toward development of a mechanical aerator of increased efficiency over those presently available for the purpose of effecting oxygen transfer to surface waters, in waste treatment, and for use in fermentation processes.  Both vertical and horizontal type aerators were developed which, in large-scale tank tests, indicated they can affect all oxygen exchange of 1 lb. for each two-tenths of a Kw-hr of power applied. This reduces by 50 percent the power requirement of most present devices of this kind. Through the assistance of the Montague Machine Company, cost estimates were made for construction of such equipment.
