Technical Bulletin No. 0076: An Evaluation of Analytical Procedures for the Determination of Low Levels of Residual Sulfide in Lime Mud (AQTB)
One of the important factors that has been related to the control of reduced sulfur emissions from a kraft chemical recovery process lime kiln is the residual sulfide content of lime mud fed to the kiln. The attached technical bulletin which deals with the measurement of residual sulfide in washed lime mud was prepared by Dr. Robert P. Fisher, NCASI Research Chemist at the Southern Regional Center. The bulletin is based on laboratory and field work conducted and directed by Dr. Fisher. During the conduct of the studies reported herein, the precision and accuracy of the existing acid purging test for total sulfide measurement in lime mud was examined after improvements in its method of use were defined.
