Technical Bulletin No. 0011: Laboratory Evaluation of Gas Sampling Procedure for Recovery Furnace Stack Gases (AQTB)
The attached bulletin describes the method developed by the University of Florida Project of the National Council for sampling and analyzing recovery furnace stack gases in kraft mills. In this method, the gases are analyzed for particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and total sulfur dioxide. By this procedure, other reduced sulfur compounds are determined by difference. The chemical analyses used are accurate and easily performed. It is believed that the methods outlined obtain the information desired at the lowest cost consistent with providing reliable data. Personnel at the project are preparing a detailed description of the stack sampling equipment and procedure which will be useful to mills who wish to use this sampling method.
