Special Report No. 99-01: A Review of NOx Emission Control Strategies for Industrial Boilers, Kraft Recovery Furnaces, and Lime Kilns
Fundamentals of nitrogen oxide formation are reviewed, especially as they apply to biomass and biomassderived fuel combustion. Currently available technologies for industrial source nitrogen oxide emission control and their applicability to forest products industry combination and bark boilers, recovery furnaces, and lime kilns are discussed. Limitations of applying techniques suitable for base-loaded, fossil fuel. Fired boilers to industrial boilers that operate in a swing mode are identified.
