Special Report No. 93-10: A Survey of Pulp and Paper Industry Environmental Protection Expenditures – 1992

Based on a survey of the industry, capital expenditures for environmental protection at U.S. pulp and paper mills in 1992 were estimated to be $1,048 million, with 47% of the total being for water quality protection, 36% for air quality protection, and 17% for solid waste disposal. Total 1992 expenditures were about $300 million lower than those reported for 1991. Forecast environmental expenditures for 1993 are $1,173 million.
