Special Report No. 92-14: A Survey of Pulp and Paper Industry Environmental Protection Expenditures – 1991

Based on a survey of the industry, capital expenditures for environmental protection at U.S. pulp and paper mills in 1991 were estimated to be $1,343 million, with 50% of the total being for water quality protection, 36% for air quality protection, and 14% for solid waste disposal. Total 1991 expenditures were about the same as those reported for 1990. Forecast environmental expenditures for 1992 are $1,382 million.
