Special Report No. 89-11: In-Plant and Closed Cycle Technologies Research and Development Program – 1989 Status Report

The first year of joint Louisiana Pacific Corporation and Simpson Paper Company funding for the Section 301(m) mandated R&D program addressing in-plant and closed cycle technologies is in place. Eight (8) research proposals costing approximately $530,000 have been approved for the first year. These projects are addressing (a) biological, chemical and thermal treatment technologies for treating effluent streams, (b) improved pulp washing, (c) bleach plant simulation, and (d) bleaching technologies that minimize the use of. Chlorine and chlorine derivatives. The program will be continued in 1990.
