Special Report No. 89-04: Status of High Elevation Appalachian Forests

The status of the high elevation forests in the Appalachian Mountains was assessed in the fall of 1988 by a study team of three scientists. The team visited sites in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and New York. They worked with scientists familiar with the conditions at each site.
