Special Report No. 89-03: A Review of the 1987 SARA Release Reports Filed by Forest Products Industry Manufacturing Facilities

A review was conducted of annual release reports for 1987 submitted by forest products industry manufacturing facilities in response to the requirements of SARA Title III, Section 313. It was found that pulp and paper mills accounted for most of the reported releases of listed Section 313 substances. Substances associated with chemical pulp production, chlorine based chemical pulp bleaching, combustion sources, and wastewater treatment represented the majority of the reported releases.
